Ron and his wife Shawn are both graduates of Rockford High School and love being involved in the community and schools. Ron has a background in chemical engineering and financial planning and worked in both fields before being called to seminary and full time ministry involvement. In 2003 Ron joined the team at BridgeWay and is energized by people being transformed by the power of Jesus Christ. He also enjoys coaching youth wrestling, camping, fishing, snowboarding and spending time outdoors with his family. Ron and Shawn have five kids, AnnMarie, Brennan, AisLynn, Brysonn and Braylenn.

Jeff DeRyke, Associate Pastor

Small Groups, Community Life and Pastoral Care

Jeff grew up in Rockford, and became a follower of Christ during his senior year at RHS. After college, he spent a year as a missionary in the Middle East before returning to serve at several churches in the Midwest. He also attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree. Jeff has been on staff at BridgeWay since 2012, and loves to help people find their fit in the community and work of God’s Kingdom. He enjoys reading (especially theology and sci-fi), watching sports and playing any kind of board game he can get his hands on. Jeff married Gina in 2009, and they have two sons, Caleb and Matthew.

Katie Hawkins, 'J'Seekers Ministry Assistant

‘J’Seekers Children’s Ministry (Infants – 5th Grade)

Katie grew up in Grand Rapids and moved to Rockford in early 2012. She graduated from Catholic Central High School and then earned an Associates Degree in Medical Office Administration from Grand Rapids Community College. She has been a member of Bridgeway since 2012 and attends church with her three wonderful children, Simon, Julia and Victoria. She began helping out with Vacation Bible School and volunteering with 'J'Seekers and that has turned into a position aiding the Children's Ministries. Prior to this she worked for oral surgeons then was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom for almost a year. She enjoys spending time with her children and family, baking lots of sweet treats and geo caching with her kids (which they call Treasure Hunting!) whenever they can.

Jake Houf, Youth Pastor

EPIC Youth Ministry (Middle & High School)

Jake grew up on the northeast side of Columbus, Ohio and moved to Michigan to attend Cornerstone University in 2006. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Bible from Cornerstone in 2010, as well as a Master of Arts in Educational Ministries from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary in 2012. Jake spent 3.5 years working in student ministries at a church in Grand Rapids before making the move to BridgeWay. He loves coffee, hammocking, music, and traveling (or any combination of those things). Jake is also passionate about walking with students as they journey through life, and helping them find and know Jesus.
