Here are a few resources we’ve found. We will be updating this so come back often!

Food

Here are a few locations in the area that are offering assistance with food:

  1. Interactive Michigan Map – Find free food for kids near you
  2. Local Schools – Providing free boxed lunches for kids.
  3. North Kent Connect – Clients may pick up their monthly pantry items from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays: drive up service only.

Jobs/Businesses/Unemployment

  1. Weekly Hot Jobs – West Michigan Works posts jobs each week that are available!
  2. Byrne Industrial – Hiring for light assembly work in Rockford. $10-$10.50 starting wages.
  3. West Michigan COVID 19 Business Coalition – Resources for businesses and employees
  4. Kent County Back To Work – Looking at how to get your business back to work? This site has helpful tools and guidelines.
  5. Grand Rapids City – Does your business need some help? Are you in Grand Rapids? Check out this link to ask questions or apply for local help.
  6. Unemployment – Here is the link to the expansion to temporary unemployment. Contact Michigan.gov/UIA or call 1.866.500.0017 to apply. Check out West Michigan Works for up to date information on jobs and filing for unemployment helps.

Internet

  1. Spectrum Charter Internet – According to a press release on March 13, they are offering free internet to k-12 students currently displaced for 60 days. 

Kid/Student Resources

  1. Orange Curriculum. Online bible study resources for kids.
  2. Managing fear/anxiety in a health pandemic. This is an article about how to deal with fear/anxiety with kids.
  3. BridgeWay Student Ministries social media. Are you kids in middle school or high school? Check out the BSM Instagram or Facebook Monday through Friday for videos and challenges.

Volunteer/Donate

Create a fundraiser for an organization. Here is one that is already created:

  1. Donate to help Midland with flood relief. They are looking for contractor garbage bags, box fans, rubber gloves, totes, tarps, duct tape. Either donate on the amazon link directly to Midland Reformed Church or in person at Bridgeway on Thursday May 28, 10am-2pm.
  2. Midland Work Team. Work team is headed to Midland Saturday May 30. Sign up by clicking the link.
  3. Donate to Kids Food Basket. Learn more about Kids Food Basket here.
  4. Donate to North Kent Connect. This link will bring you to the page to support families. One box of food has 5 meals that feeds 4 people and costs $13.75.
  5. Donate blood with the Red Cross or Versiti. Their websites say there is a severe shortage of blood due to blood drives being cancelled.
