“The Best of the Best”
LIFE: Have you ever flown in an airplane, or been in the cockpit? Have you felt “the need, the need for speed”?
ENGAGE THE MESSAGE:
- Read Ecclesiastes 1:2-4 & 12:13.
- Some of the synonyms for “meaningless” are vanity, vapor, and breath. What does Solomon mean when he says “everything” is meaningless?
- Are there positive aspects of wealth? Career? Status? Pleasure? How does that contrast with self absorption?
- Read Proverbs 27:17. How does this proverb support Pastor Mike’s statement, “The best of the best is not the best alone”?
- Ecclesiastes ends in chapter 12 with the simple statement, “Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.” Discuss fear and obedience in this context.
- What are the two commands Jesus gave in Matthew 22:36-40? How is it living “the best of the best” when we follow Jesus’ way?
- Are the friends you have helping you with living out what matters the most?
- Are you helping your friends and family to follow Jesus?
MAKE DISCIPLES: How can you help others to know the love of Jesus? How can you change your community, friends, family to be a redemptive community?
